The gallon-to-pint relationship has two levels: one gallon splits into four quarts, then every quart splits into two pints. The result is 4 groups of 2, or 8 pints.
This page uses US liquid pints. An Imperial gallon also contains eight Imperial pints, but both the gallon and pint are larger in that system. The numbers “eight pints” match while the physical volumes do not.

Convert 2 gallons to pints.

Common mistake
Check the unit and direction
Do not stop at 4. Four is the number of quarts in a gallon. Because each quart holds two pints, the pint total is 8.
Remember it
Say the chain aloud: “four quarts, two pints each.” Then multiply 4 × 2.
